Nintendo has had some good times with the 3DS, and some not-so-good-times. At E-3 Nintendo revealed and announced that the version of Mario Kart for the 3DS would be out and ready for users to play later on in the year! Now, around the beginning of December, Nintendo launched Mario Kart 7, the latest Mario Kart game in the series! But is it any good? We'll find out. The game was released just a few months after the low ratings for the 3DS, and the big price drop to $169.99 (USD). Now, can Nintendo pick themselves up and make Mario Kart the new hit? Let's see!
PLAYZAP GAMES SAYS: Mario Kart 7 is one of the best in the series. Highly addicting, and new content that kicks the old Mario Karts' butts right out of the universe! But there are some cons with this fun, improved racing game. We found that the 'blue killer shells' were an annoying feature that was added to the 7th line. They basically are unstoppable from hitting the person it's meant to hit. There's no way to stop it! No dodging, no nothing! The red shells aren't a problem, though. There's always a chance you can dodge those, by making a surprise twist! The developers also could have spend a little more time adding and designing more tracks for everyone to enjoy racing on. Another thing that we think Nintendo should've added is a solo-track runner, rather than always having to do a grand prix other than in the Online Mode. Like you select one track, and just race it. We think this because we despise some of the courses in the game, but there is always another course that we love in that grand prix line, and there's no way to play it unless we play the one that we hate! But, let me stop complaining. The game looks amazing in 3D! You've never seen that benefit in a Mario Kart Game, have you? Not unless it's the 3DS, you haven't! We also think that the first person control is a great benefit! The gyro\motion control is very cool to have on a device like the 3DS. Did I mention that it's portable? Of course you knew, though! Take the tracks wherever you go! It also has really cool other features, that were in previous games like the "Online Mode" where you can race your friends (FROM YOUR 3DS-ONLY FRIEND LIST!) and you can also race random people from anywhere in the world! Yes, Japan, Europe, United States, Canada, Australia, and tons more! There are also 2 great *NEW* features on the 3DS' version of Mario Kart! Those features are GLIDE AND DIVE! That's right, you can race through the bottom of the sea, or even soar through the sky! And of course, drive on land. There's sheets of sleet, jungle floors, sandy beach shores, glassy mall floors, underwater shores, and lots more tracks for you to race on! We also think the "Lucky 7" is a really cool power-up! 7 great battle items!

mike&ike: The game is really awesome in 3D, and has tons of new features that the old games don't have. I do, although, think that they should have a 16 racer mode. It was fun being crowded with racers! But they should also have an 8 person mode because who always wants to be crowded? I think they should get rid of red and blue shells because they require no work and always hit. The green shells are great because you actually have to put effort in and aim at your target.

johnflounder: This is by far the best one in the series. What's next, the 4DS? I can't wait to see what I'll say about that one! Mario Kart 7 adds some great features, which includes joining your friends' communities, or even a popular community! The "Battle" Mode is a fantastic new feature, and I also think that the Kart customization is great! New Karts, and even some Gliders! I think they should have a wider selection of wheels and gliders, though. Love the character selection, though! Unlockable characters and playing as your Mii?! Wow!

demonslayer: Well, I don't exactly LOVE this game, but I do like it. No, I'm kidding! I love it! It's so addicting! I usually hate racing games, but Mario Kart 7 really gets your attention, and is tons of fun to play. With the new "Battle Mode" you don't always have to be racing. You can do some fun battling! I love to play in communities with my friends. The first person mode really is a cool add-on, as I wasn't expecting a portable device like the 3DS to have a feature like that. It does add some fun, as FaceRaiders, Steeldiver, Mario Kart 7, and many other games have the motion control feature. The Wii had this feature, but that's the Wii! A portable device. Now that's cool! I also think the game looks fantastic in 3D! You'll love this game! I have no cons to say about it!
